How to Choose Parking Lot Lights
Compare parking lot fixtures by voltage, mounting, optics and controls before choosing wattage or placing an order.
Start with the Pole and Electrical Supply
Record the existing pole height, arm or tenon dimensions, fixture attachment and supply voltage. Confirm these details against the specification sheet for the exact item. Slip-fit mounts, arm mounts and wall brackets use different interfaces; the product photograph alone cannot confirm compatibility.
Compare Distribution Before Wattage
Wattage describes electrical input. It does not show where the light will land. Review the optical distribution and the area you need to illuminate, including boundaries and pedestrian routes. For a layout decision, obtain a photometric calculation using the selected configuration rather than choosing solely by a watt-for-watt replacement.
Check the Complete Order
Identify color temperature, output setting, photocell or control options, mounting hardware and any required shields. Confirm what is included in the SKU and what must be ordered separately. Ask about delivery requirements for poles or oversized accessories before treating the fixture price as the total project cost.
