How to Read LED Product Specifications
Understand LED fixture ratings, voltage, lumens, optics, controls and model-specific documentation.
Read the Model and Configuration First
Start by matching the model number on the specification sheet to the SKU and selected options. Tables may describe several wattages, voltages and optics. Follow the column for the configuration you are considering rather than combining the best figures from different variants.
Distinguish Electrical and Lighting Data
Input voltage and power describe electrical requirements; lumens describe total light output; an optical distribution describes where that light travels. Color temperature describes the appearance of white light. These fields answer different questions and should not be treated as substitutes for a site-specific lighting calculation.
Check Ratings and Supporting Documents
Confirm that installation conditions fall within the published environmental and temperature ratings. Review certification identifiers for the actual model and configuration. A logo in a marketing image is not a substitute for checking the associated listing or documentation when a project requires it.
Resolve Conflicting Information
If a title, specification table and PDF disagree, send the SKU and the conflicting values to LightDepot before ordering. Do not pick whichever value is more favorable. Ask for written confirmation identifying the configuration and document revision that apply.
