What is TAA Lighting:
A light fixture is TAA-compliant if manufactured or substantially transformed in the United States or manufactured in a TAA-designated country. The designated countries have a trade agreement with the US and are considered by the United States as an acceptable or reliant procurement source. The US Customs and Border Protection states that it is the contractor's responsibility to verify substantial transformation. The contractor may go to The Office of Regulations and Rulings within US Customs and Border Protection. This is the federal agency mandated with making substantial transformation determinations or giving their opinions on the matter.
With TAA compliance, it means that you can legitimately sell the LED lighting products under your GSA Schedule contract. Hence, your onus is to control and ensure that all the LED lighting products you include in your GSA contract are US-made or designated country end-products. As such, it is imperative that you periodically check the origin of the parts and components of the LED lighting products. If the lighting products you deliver to the government become non-TAA compliant, the GSA Schedule contract is rendered void.
