DISTANCE - The sensor is capable of picking up motion at over 40 ft. Real world conditions will reduce that to an average of 20-30ft, but your distance may vary. These are Passive Infrared Sensors or PIR and subject to limitations. PIR will be less sensitive in windy or very dark conditions. Some objects, particularly metals, can reduce the range. Place in clear line of site without metal objects and add some ambient lighting, such as solar lights, to increase the range.
